According to Wikipedia, medtech refers to the “application of organized knowledge and skills in the form of devices, medicines, vaccines, procedures, and systems developed to solve a health problem and improve quality of lives”. This includes e.g. diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, methods, and devices. Therapy and diagnostics, however, are excluded from patent protection in most countries. Yet devices and chemical compounds for such applications can usually be patented.
